On the Road Again

Today we left on our epic summer road trip. Unlike past summers, this one will be almost twice as long. We have many friends and family to visit--it is going to be quite an adventure!

To start off, we had to send a little joke to the Westmorelands. On their last road trip, they ran into a jackrabbit and ended up with a "hood ornament." So, here is ours...just a stuffed one for the photo op!
The car is packed for 7 weeks of adventure--boy was that an interesting task!
First stop...Balmorhea State Park, TX. This camp is on the western edge of Texas--8 hours from home. It rocks! A natural spring feeds into this pool that is up to 20 feet deep. People were scuba diving and snorkeling. It was wild swimming with all the fish. The kids loved jumping off the 3 meter high dive.

Check Ed out!
William's canon ball
Evan braved it, too!
Yes, that's me!
Go, Collier!

Check out our camp--our little cozy tent!
Grilling hot dogs--our staple food for camping.

Right as we started eating, the wind picked up strong. In fact, we used Will's weather radio and heard there was a severe storm alert just miles away. We watched quite a lightening storm and worried that the tent would fly away. Some campers started packing up. Luckily, after about an hour, the storm settled down and we walked over to the showers. After a nice shower (funny though--we took one in the handicap shower--perfect size for Evan, but quite comical for Ed and I), we went to bed for the night.
